Goodlettsville

Janice Faye Harbison Cook, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 23, 1942, and spent her life touching the hearts of those around her with her love and kindness.

Jan loved the Lord with all her heart and loved singing praises to him. She was beautiful inside and out and was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.

Jan married Ron Cook on December 30, 1967 and together they served the Lord as members of the Madison Church of Christ for over 50 years.

Jan exemplified a life of service to her Savior as she showed His love through her life. She had a vibrant, fun personality that reflected God’s love and had a deep-rooted passion for life. Whether at home, church or in the workplace, she dedicated her time to helping and edifying others. Through the years she served in the youth and preschool ministries, as well as Meals on Wheels with her church. Her joyful spirit, happy smile, wisdom, and gentle encouragement uplifted those around her.

Jan used her God given gifts and talents to make her house a warm and happy home for all of her family and friends. She spent time with hobbies such as cross stitching, reading, and gardening. She enjoyed working at Skyline Medical Center and Nashville Memorial Hospital and had many friends there through the years.

Her proudest accomplishments included raising her children and being a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, lovingly referred to as “Grammy" by her grandchildren.

She was a great storyteller, and could create stories that would capture the imaginations of her children and grandchildren. They fondly remember playing games, walking in the woods, and baking brownies with her.

She is survived by her two children, Phil (Tracie) Cook and Holly (Marc) McAdams, and her three grandchildren, Blake McAdams (Lexie), Rachel McAdams, and Grayson Cook. Jan is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Clay Cook, who passed away on April 27, 2020.

A visitation will be held in her honor on October 14, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, TN.
