Janas Randur Siitam was born in Palmer, Alaska on July 11, 1978 to Glen Stick & Linda Siitam. The third of four siblings (Julianna, Laine, Randy & Tim), he was raised mostly by his mom & older sisters. The Siitams moved often, between the US & Canada, until they settled in Michigan for a spell. It was here that Julianna passed away in 1997. Randy wasn't yet 20.
They moved again, to Middle Tennessee, where they would establish something of a home base. Laine passed away in 2006, followed by Linda in 2018 & Tim in 2023. Randy is survived by aunts & uncles & cousins & nephews & nieces. Although he was the last stick on his branch of the Siitam family, he is also survived by countless brothers & sisters from Middle Tennessee, Michigan, Florida, California, and throughout the country.
Because that is the most succinct way to describe Randy, and how he lived his life— He was our brother, all of us.
This world was not yet ready for Randy, nor was it ready to lose him. Still, we are here. May we always remember that our families are meant to grow. Though we will all know great loss in our lives, may we also remember the expanding. The impressions and connections that Randy made transcended mere friendship, collegiality, family itself. Through his work, his music, his daily struggles and celebrations, he grew his family far beyond the capacity of the Siitam name. In his absence, may we all do the same.
