RAINEY, James A.- age 84 went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2013. Jim began his career with what was then Commerce Union Bank and proudly retired as chairman after 43 years with the same bank. He led a life of service always putting God and family first. He served on the Board of Directors for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, The Memorial Foundation, Martin Methodist College, The Federal Reserve Bank, University of Tennessee Agriculture and Development as well as countless other organizations. For the next 24 years after retirement he lived on the farm he loved so much and traveled with his wife Alice. He will forever be remembered as a man of faith, a devoted husband to his wife of 62 years, a beloved Dad and Granddad to his family, and a great friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice F. Rainey; parents, Fannie Mae and Robert Lee Rainey; brothers, Arnold J. "Snooks" Rainey, John Henry Rainey, Leon Rainey, Bob Rainey; twin brother, Bill Rainey; sister, Leola Barrett. He is survived by sons, Bruce Anita Rainey, Pat Paula Rainey; daughter, Catherine Rector; sisters, Jean Carino, Freda Ledbetter, Joanne Gaskill; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Monday 11am at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8pm and on Monday from 9-11am at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association through Abe's Garden at www.abesgarden.org.
