James Roy a.k.a. Roy Bee Bledsoe, aged 72 and dearly beloved by many, passed away on Wednesday, June 2nd,. Mr. Bee was preceded in death by his mother, Kate Williams Bledsoe, and his father, William Bledsoe. He is survived by his daughter, Christie Bledsoe. He graduated from Speedwell H.S. in VA and at the age of 16 he attended Emery and Henry College; then transferred to E. TN State U. where he earned degrees in Business and Broadcasting. He was a member of the National Debate team. His interest in sports spanned his lifetime. He played center position on the basketball team and was an avid tennis player and instructor. He enjoyed boating and riding his horses for most of his adult life. He served proudly as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He then elected to follow his heart's first love, a country music career, and with his resonant, baritone voice, entertained fans throughout the U.S. traveling with his band for ten years. Among his numerous achievements, he managed radio stations and was an announcer at Opryland. Following the birth of his daughter, he owned and managed rental properties until the time of his death. He is a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Hendersonville. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am, Saturday, June 5, 2010 from the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to Hendersonville Funeral Home, 615824-3855.
