SUMNER
BASS, James Hartwell, age 87, of Hendersonville passed away July 3, 2006. Mr. Bass retired from the Nashville Fire Department where he served as Deputy Fire Marshall. Mr. Bass was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was also a member of Buena Vista Masonic Lodge and a member of Al Menah Shriners where he played in the lodge's Oriental Band. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rubye O. Bass, a daughter; Peggy Buford Putman, a sister; Helen Charles Floyd, a grandson; Tony S. Laurie Putman, a granddaughter; Trena Phillip Brimm, five great-grandchildren; Derek Katy Brimm, Dana and Dawn Brimm, Chandler and Riley Putman, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. The Bass family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm and from 6pm until 8pm, Wednesday, July 5, and from 10am until the service time, Thursday, July 6 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Thursday, July 6, from the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Pastor W. Allen Weller officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
