The family of Jack Clay Swift sadly announces his death in Mt. Juliet, TN, on January 7, 2024, at the age of 85.
Jack was born in Cedar Hill, TN in 1938, to Willie Edgar Swift and Avo Swift. He worked at and retired from Nashville Metro Water Services. He raised a son, with whom he enjoyed long talks and laughter at the dining room table. He and his second wife, members of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ and the Music City Single Square Dance group, enjoyed dances, cruises, and feeding the birds and squirrels on the back porch. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his infectious smile, happy outlook, authenticity, love of Tennessee Titans football, and Bojangles biscuits.
Mr. Swift s preceded in death by his wife Azora Hemminger-Swift, mother Avo Swift, father Willie Edgar Swift, and sister Joyce Gavlick of Nashville. He is survived by his son Troy Swift, nephews Mike Gavlick of Nashville and Mark Busear of Illinois, and step children Bradley (Pam), Rodney (Cindy), and Mara Hemminger.
An indoor visitation will take place from 12-2pm Friday, Jan 12, 2024, at the Cole and Garrett Funeral Home In Goodlettsville, TN, followed by a service at 2pm. There will be no graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the APDA Parkinson’s Organization are welcome.
