Inez Lois Burnett Ellis, 86, of Goodlettsville passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. Born in Hendersonville, November 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Burnett and Della Steele Burnett. Inez was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Melissa Ellis; brothers, Melvin Burnett, Joe Burnett and Eddie Burnett; and sister, Martha (Burnett) Watkins. Inez had attended Hendersonville High School. She married her late husband, Sam P. Ellis, Jr. early in her senior year of high school. Inez had worked for JC Penney in Madison for a number of years before she took a job at Madison Psychiatric where she later retired after a long career of serving patients she loved. A simple lady, she always wanted to make others happy. She enjoyed shopping, collecting angel figurines, and was an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves baseball team and The Tennessee Titans football. She also loved bingo and a couple of trips she was able to make to a few casinos. Always wearing a smile on her face you couldn't help but to love her. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Ellis) Jones; her son, Jerry N. Ellis; her grandsons, Chris Burton, Steven Ellis and Jerry W. Ellis; her granddaughter, Rebecca (Ellis) Potter; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Mary (Burnett) Draffen, Ladonna (Burnett) Burley and Linda (Burnett) Stiles; and a brother, Cordell Burnett. Visitation for Inez will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 4 - 7 pm and Friday, May 28, 2021 from 10 - 11:30 am. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home at 11:30 followed by interment at Spring Hill Cemetery.
