MASK, Imogene Ivy "Jean" passed away early Friday morning, September 8, 2006, at her home at the Homewood Residence in west Nashville. She was 81. Mrs. Mask was born January 21, 1925, in Marks Mississippi, the daughter of the late George Washington and Emmie Bagwell Ivy. She was a 1942 graduate of Darling High School and attended the University of Mississippi before being married in 1946. A child of the depression, she learned to value hard work and frugality. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Ole Miss service station in Oxford and at the Trane Air Conditioning Company in New Orleans. When her sons were older, she worked as a real estate agent for Northside Realty in Atlanta. Her most important work was that of wife and mother. She was devoted to her two sons, encouraging them in their education and their other interests. She served as "room mother" in their elementary schools, as a den mother for Cub Scouts, and took an active part in PTA. More recently she has been a doting grandmother. Throughout her long life she has enjoyed her family and taken pride in her home. She was a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church. She is survived by husband of sixty years, John E. Mask, of Nashville, and by two sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin and Pam Mask, also of Nashville, and Jeff and Ivey Mask of Dover, DE. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Kyle and Casey Mask of Nashville and Nate and Hannah Mask of Dover; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. James Ivy of Olive Branch, MS, and Mr. and Mrs. Quinon Ivy of Oxford, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
