PARKS, Haworth Houston. He was born March 21, 1926. Died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 82 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Penelope Lucy Houston Parks and father, Earl Erwin Parks and son, Earl Erwin Parks II. He resided in Nashville, attended Stokes & Cavert Schools, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1944 and Vanderbilt University in 1949. He is survived by long-time companion, Jean Johnson; sons, Haworth Mary Parks, Jr., Knox Madelene Parks, Nelson Karen Parks, and Rich Parks; grandchildren, Taylor, Houston, Wesley, Grove and Katherine and 5 great-grandchildren. He was a well known sports figure while attending Hillsboro and Vanderbilt where he played basketball and was a life long supporter of Vanderbilt. He was a U.S. Marine. He was an avid golfer and member of Hillwood Country Club where he also served as President and was a member of the Golf Club of TN. After graduating from Vanderbilt he began his health care field with Nashville Surgical and started his own company Parks inc. in 1965 and was active in the health care distribution industry for over 50 years. He served as Chairman of the Health Industry Distributors Association and was past President of ABCO Distribution, now NDC in Lavergne, TN. Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Ave. with visitation two hours prior to service, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and immediately following the service. Private family interment at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be Westminster Presbyterian Church or Alzheimer's Association.
