Glen G. “Jerry” Garrett, Jr. 83, a lifelong Goodlettsville resident, passed away Saturday July 31, 2021. He was the son of the late Glen G. Garrett, Sr. and Martha Adair Garrett.  Preceded in death by a daughter, Mary “Mollie” Callaway Garrett and a sister, Martha Frances Chapman. Jerry received his accounting degree from the University of Tennessee with a long career in banking and financial services. He served as a City Commissioner from May of 1982 until October of 2010 serving two terms as Mayor and three as Vice Mayor. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church Goodlettsville, he served as church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. He also served on the boards of Goodpasture Christian School, Davidson Academy, and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Jerry was a founding director of the Nashville Ronald McDonald House and the first chairman of the Goodlettsville Help Center. He was a  member of Leadership Nashville. Jerry’s life was one exemplified by his devotion to God, family and service. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary “Jill” Callaway Garrett; his son, Glen G. Garrett, III (Cari Wilson Garrett); daughter, Christie Moore (Todd); grandchildren, Gracyn Wilbanks (James), Carson Garrett, Wilson Garrett, Jim Moore, and Mollie Moore; his brother, Robert “Bob” Garrett (Harriett).  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home Goodlettsville and Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM at First Baptist Church Goodlettsville with a Celebration of Life at 1 PM. A private family burial service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Goodlettsville Help Center or to the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville.
