Gladys G. Koonce, 92, a longtime Goodlettsville resident passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at White House Health Care. Born in Nashville June 10, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Sam and Roxie (Abernathy) Parrish. She was also preceded in death by George Koonce, her husband of 54 years; 7 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Genell (Joey) Beach and Georgie Koonce; brother, John Parrish; sisters, Joyce (Jim) Scott and Ruth Parrish; 2 grandchildren, Dale Beach and Jill (Nick) Falcone; and 2 great-grandchildren, Addi and Carson Falcone. Gladys worked at the former Klines Department Store in Nashville and later at Dorris & Swift Grocery in Goodlettsville for many years. When Dorris & Swift was sold to Kroger, Gladys stayed on and eventually worked at the Hendersonville location where she retired as head of the floral department. Gladys was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also was a woman with a deep sense of faith and love for her Lord and a longtime member of the Goodlettsville Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 - 8 pm and Friday from 10 - 11 am at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville. A Life Celebration Service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11 am with Brother Lee Hickerson officiating followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will act as pallbearers.
