NELSON, George "Pat" Patton, 49, of Nashville. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23. Burial will be in Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens. Nelson joined the Tom James Company, a clothier for business professionals, for more than twenty years. He enjoyed and appreciated the numerous friendships among his extensive clientele. One of General George S. Patton's descendants, Nelson had family roots in Davidson and Dyer Counties. While attending Middle Tennessee State University, he joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He also met and married Roxanne Hall in 1980. He was an avid student of history and politics, proud of his wife's and sons' accomplishments, fond of his dogs and grilling, was witty, and enjoyed collaborating with wife and friends on home design projects. He was actively involved in his sons' educations at Montgomery Bell Academy. His favorite benefits included St. Jude's Hospital, Salvation Army, and the Rescue Mission. Survivors include wife Roxanne and sons Patton and Houston Nelson; aunt Opal Phillips, uncle Ralph Phillips, and cousins Beth Mitchell, Phillip Mitchell, and Kristen Mitchell in Dyer County.
Memorial donations may be sent to the aforementioned local charities.
