George Howlett Frost of White House, TN, passed away peacefully at his family home on July 7, 2023, at the age of 89. George was preceded in death by his parents, Miles Goodlett and Bessie Cotton Frost, his beloved wife Mattie Sue Frost, his son-in-law Cliff Tomlinson, and his grandson Kelley Steven Frost.
He was born on May 25, 1934, in Brentwood, Tennessee. His childhood home, Cottonport, which still stands today, is on the National Historic Registry in Williamson County. Built by his great-grandfather, Captain John Frost, the home served a multitude of functions during the pre-and post-Civil War era. George took great pride in growing up at Cottonport with his seven siblings. George was a proud alumnus of Franklin High School and Middle Tennessee State University. His many athletic achievements in numerous sports awarded him many honors and later led him to his induction into the MTSU Hall of Fame. He was a true sportsman and carried his passion for athletics throughout his life. Additionally, George served as the President of the Alumni Foundation at MTSU, where he dedicated his time and efforts to support his alma mater. George founded Frost Insurance, a successful insurance business that continues to serve the greater Sumner County community. He was known for his dedication, wit, integrity, and commitment to his clients. George's hard work and entrepreneurial spirit were an inspiration to many, especially to his sons, sons-in-law, and numerous grandchildren who have continued his legacy by excelling in the insurance industry and owning successful agencies of their own. George was a member of Connell United Methodist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of his Sunday School Class. As a member of Bluegrass Country Club where you could always find him on the golf course. George always enjoyed spending time on his farm, surrounded by his animals, nature, and the tranquility it offered. Above all, George was a devoted family man. He supported his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren wholeheartedly, attending countless sporting events, dance recitals, and both school and community functions. His love and encouragement were unwavering, and he took great pride in their accomplishments.
George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, humor, dedication, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. George is survived by his four children, Terry Frost Tomlinson, Robert Frost (Terri), Steve Frost (Shannon), and Karen Green (Alan) in addition to his 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in White House, TN at 10am, Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, 3851 Pleasant Grove Road, White House, TN 37148.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Connell United Methodist Church, 113 Church Street, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
