George Burnett

BURNETT, George Thomas "Tom", age 89 of Goodlettsville. Went home to be with the Lord August 27, 2011. Born on September 9, 1921. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Blackman Burnett and Laura Hayes Shields Burnett; brothers, Frank B. and Lilliard Burnett; sisters, Kathleen Harris, Narcissa Preston, and Betty Thacker. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Burnett; daughters, Kathleen Page, Carol Burnett, and Tommie Ann Burnett (Greer); grandchildren, Timothy Page, William (Delanea) Page; Damon Page, Richard Edwards, and Audrey (Brent) Young; great-grandchildren, Robyn Page, Michael Page, and Lillian Young; brother, Jack Burnett, and sister Laura Odle. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Mr. Burnett served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific on the USS Farenholt during WWII. He was a 60 year member of the Iron Workers Union Local 492. Visitation will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville Monday from 2-8 pm, and on Tuesday August 30 from 11 am until service time at 1 pm. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, granddaughter, and grandson in law. Honorary pallbearers will be Iron Workers Union Local 492, friends and neighbors, Eddie Wilson, and Guy Knox.
