BROWN, George Tucker, Age 85, died at his home in Greenbrier, TN on July 16, 2009. Mr. Brown was preceded by his parents, Charles Lee & Annie Randolph Brown; son, George Thomas Brown; brother, Charles Brown; sisters, Esther (Jimmy) Stafford, Margaret (Ben) Hudson, Pearl (Ralph) Thomas & Grace (Ralph) Bumpus. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emogene �"Jean�" Brown; sister, Anna Laura Deitz; daughter, Rebecca (Larry) Morgan; sons, David (Debbie) Brown & Rick (Janet) Brown; grandchildren, Mike (Cheryl)Morgan, Melanie Morgan & Lauren Brown; great grandchildren, Kayla Kent, Tucker Dutton and Hannah & Houston Morgan. Mr. Brown was born in Monterey, TN on March 8, 1924. He graduated with the Monterey High School class of 1943. He was an outstanding student academically and also lettered in basketball and football. On July 2, 1945, he married Jean, his high school sweetheart. Shortly after marriage, he entered into a long and accomplished career with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. He began his career as a wildlife officer and rose to the rank of Chief of Law Enforcement for the State of Tennessee. Mr. Brown was an avid hunter and fisherman and dedicated his life to the conservation and preservation of wildlife as evidenced by his membership in the following organizations: Tennessee Conservation League, where he was presented with the John Dyche Award in 1965 for professional services in the field of law enforcement to protect resources of Tennessee and Southeastern Association of Game and Fish Commissioners, where he served as Secretary-Treasurer from 1963-1968 and President in 1971. He was also a member and contributor to Ducks Unlimited, The National Rifle Association and the Tennessee Wildlife Federation. Other organizations included the Tennessee Sheriff�'s Association and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers Association. Mr. Brown was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monterey, TN and over the years attended First Baptist Church in Madison, TN and Hillview Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN. Visitation will be Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 4 to 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 1pm at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, TN with Pastor John Langlois & Pastor Stephen Ramsey officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, Mr. Brown will be taken to Monterey, TN for a 4 pm graveside service at Whitaker Cemetery with long time friend, Brother Dewitt Sampley officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Brown�'s nephews, Charles Medley Eldridge, Wayne Eldridge, Don Woody, John Bumpus, Blake Tuggle & Joey Barker. Honorary pallbearers are John Barker, Jack Woody, Hillard Roberts, Jimmy Frye, Leo Crane, Brian Crane and other family members and long time friends. Special thanks to all the staff of Alive Hospice.
