Gene McLean Adams PHD, 77 of White House, passed away at his home Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born on September 18, 1944, in Wyandotte, MI. Gene was the son of the late Reece Roland Adams and Lula Enoch Adams. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Reece Adams and Bobby Lee Adams. Gene was raised in Western Kentucky and graduated from Wingo High School, Wingo, Kentucky with the class of 1963. He later received BS degree in Mathematics from Murray State University, Murray, KY; and a Master of Divinity in Theology in 1971 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY; and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL in Humanities and Religion. Gene spent 23 years pastoring Baptist Churches in Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. He then spent 25 years as a college professor teaching mathematics, humanities and religion at Valencia College in Orlando, FL. He left Florida for White House, TN where he retired to spend time with his grandchildren and to write the book God had laid on is heart, “Memorable Sayings of Jesus.” He completed the book, and it will be published this year. Gene is survived by his wife Sandra Willeford Adams; two sons, Timothy Gene Adams of Fenton, MO, and Mark Alan Adams and his wife Tina Webster Adams of White House, TN; his grandchildren, Christopher Gene Adams, Sarah Elizabeth Adams, Bryant William Webster, Tanner Ray Adams and Takoda (Coda) Lee Adams; and a brother, James Franklin Adams of Jacksonville, FL. Visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN Friday January 21st from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. The funeral will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 PM followed by interment at White House Memorial Gardens, White House TN.
