Evelyn H Tanksley, 85 of Crossville and a longtime Hendersonville resident passed away Tuesday at Cumberland Medical Center. Born November 17, 1936 in Brush Creek, TN she was the daughter of the late Wilson Taylor Hunt and Lola Mai Moore Hunt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vance R. Tanksley. She and Vance had married at a young age and enjoyed travelling together. Evelyn was retired from Metro Public Schools where she had been a bus driver for 40 years. In her retirement, she worked for Anchor Bus Company of Goodlettsville where she drove for tours and celebrities. She was also an avid fisherman. She had moved to Lake Tansi in Crossville after retiring and her family soon followed her up there. She and her husband had also been active Honda Gold Wing riders for many years. Evelyn loved camping at Cages Bend and being her grandson’s “best buddy” often joining him in fishing and riding 4 wheelers. She is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Laura) Tanksley and Michael (Beverly) Tanksley; 2 granddaughters, Amy Pugh and Stephanie Tanksley; her grandson and “apple of her eye” Wilson “T.W.” Tanksley; 3 great-grandsons; and her brother-in-law whom she adored, Larry “Scooter” Tanksley. A family graveside service will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Hendersonville, TN, Monday January 31st at 1 PM.
