Evelyn Steele, age 86 of Madison passed away December 7, 2016. Mrs. Steele was born on September 27, 1930 in the Neely's Bend community to the late Clifton and Rose Carter. A lifelong resident of the Madison community, Mrs. Steele loved where she was from; she loved to fish and always outdid her husband; she will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifton Carter, Jr. and Jerry Carter; and son-in-law, Kenneth Taylor. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jeff Steele; children, Linda Waller (Thomas), Jeff Steele, Jr. (Kathy), Faye Fox (Fred) and Brenda Taylor; grandchildren, Snapper Waller, Jeremy Steele, Tonya Messer, Jamie Carson, Jason Steele, Kaleb Taylor and Donnie Franks; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dot Eden and Mary Sue Capps (Jerry). Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, December 9th at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. and on Friday one hour prior to the service.
