Evelyn Rives

Evelyn Virginia Perry Rives, January 25, 1922 – July 16, 2008, passed away peacefully at home after a valiant battle with Lymphoma. Preceded in death by her parents, A. D., Sr. and Louise Perry, brother; A.D., Jr. and Edwin and sister, Helen. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H. Rives, Sr. Surviving her are her three loving children and their spouses; John H. "Jack" Rives, Jr. and Janette, Joseph A. "Joe" Rives and Judy, and Deanne Groves and James T. "Bud", her grandchildren; Julie Hire Jimmy, Jennifer Hendricks Donnie, Jill Marcum Steven, Lynn Nore Chittom Thom, John L. Rives Sara, Hollie McClellan Richard, great-grandchildren; Terry Joe "TJ" Groves, Ginger and Cody Hendricks, Hunter Hire, Kara and Caleb Chittom. Also, included are her loving sisters and brother; Mary Louise Grissom, Justine Duke, Bonnie Marrs Clay, Nancy Hoover E.W., and Kenneth Perry Kay.
Evelyn was greatly loved by her family and friends because her life was based on her love for God, family and friends. She was a member of the Church of Christ most of her life, with 49 years as a member of Hendersonville Church of Christ. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement as an Administrative Assistant. Honorary pall bearers will be; The Brunch Bunch, the Ladies Bible Class, and the deacons and elders and the ministers of the church. Active pall bearers; grandsons, great-grandsons and special friend.
The family will receive friends for Mrs. Rives from 3pm to 8pm on Friday , July 18, 2008 and from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from at the Hendersonville Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 pm, Saturday, July 19, 2008, in the funeral home chapel with Keith Parker, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
