Greer, Vera Evelyn Dickens age 84 of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away on July 17, 2015 peacefully in her sleep at her home. She was born on September 11, 1930 in Goodlettsville, TN to Leslie Homer and Leona Harris Dickens. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leo Curtis Greer, Sr. ; her son , Leo Curtis (Curt) Greer, Jr.; her parents ; her brother, Dewey Russell Dickens; and her sister, Sue Nowers. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Greer, and Billy (Sandra) Greer; grandsons, Joshua (Rachel) and Zachary Greer and their mother, Kristi Greer Harris; great-granddaughter, Marley Grace Greer; brother, James Dickens; sister, Clara Nicholson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Greer was a devoted wife and mother who committed her life to serving her family, church, neighbors and community. She was a lifetime member of the Ivy Point Church of Christ. She and her husband were very active in the support and development of Goodpasture Christian School for 35 years. For 30 years, she and her husband were the owners and administrators of Hendersonville Nursing Home in Hendersonville, TN. Mrs. Greer was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Nashville where she was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. She was an officer for the Middle Tennessee Nursing Home Association and volunteered for many years at Nashville Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Greer was known for her loving heart, cheerful smile, gracious demeanor, Godly spirit, and excellent cooking

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 3pm in the Cole & Garrett Funeral Home Chapel in Goodlettsville with Mike Tidwell and Bill Speight officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, July 21st, from 4-8pm then again on Wednesday from 1pm until the time of service. Interment will be at Ivy Point Church of Christ Cemetery in Goodlettsville, TN. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Greer, Zachary Greer, Steve Nicholson, James A. Dickens, Mike Mohr, Donnie Dickens, Steve Gregory, and Charles Dickens. Honorary Pallbearers are James Dickens; Lucian Minton, Sr.; Johnny Thornton; Johnny Cushenberry; Sam Binkley; John Parrish; Alex Amaro and Bill Wickert. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Willowbrook Hospice in Hendersonville, TN.
