Emmett Herschel Harris, age 86 of Goodlettsville, passed away on August 28, 2017 in the comfort of his home.
He was born on March 14, 1931 to the late Harvey and Nora Harris.
Mr. Harris was a lifelong member of Union Hill Baptist Church and worked for 31 years at DuPont.
He was a good man to his friends and a loving husband and uncle. He and Carolyn enjoyed cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean's numerous times, including visiting Hawaii seven times. They visited 33 States, but enjoyed camping and fishing close to home.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his siblings, Harvey F. Harris, Salley Smith and William H. Harris.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 64 years, Carolyn Harris; brother, Charles Richard Harris; nephews, Kevin Lee Phelan, Troy Hall (Andrea Elaine) Phelan, Jeffery Clay Phelan; great-nephew, Walter Frank Phelan.
A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, August 31 at 12pm in the Chapel of Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 30 from 4-8pm then again on Thursday from 11:00am until the time of service.
