Elvis Earl Simmons, an esteemed member of the community and beloved family man, passed away on March 4, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Bowling Green, KY, Elvis was a source of positivity and laughter to all who knew him.
Elvis dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career in the electrical field, where he spent years working with Hitt Electric, State Electrical Inspection in Sumner County, and 25 years for Morgan Electric. He was known for his hard work ethic and a cheerful demeanor, often brightening the day of those around him with his humor and jovial spirit. Beyond his professional achievements, he served honorably in the United States Army and then in the Army Reserve for five years.
A proud father and grandfather, Elvis took immense pride in his family. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda (Roy) Morgan; son, Michael (Rhonda) Simmons; grandchildren Jason (Jennifer) Morgan, John (Brooke) Morgan, and Brandy Tidwell, as well as his great-grandchildren Carolyn, Jacob, Eric, Jack, Logan, Ava, and Zander, who affectionately called him "Granddaddy."
Elvis enjoyed a vibrant life filled with hobbies and interests. He treasured family vacations at Disney World, especially relishing the opportunity to enjoy the exquisite food there. An avid golfer, he found joy in spending time on the greens and participated in lottery games with friends from work. Furthermore, his commitment to community service was exemplified by his role as a Trustee for Bible Baptist Church and serving on the board of directors for The City Goodlettsville and Metro Nashville Council.
Elvis was a genuinely happy individual who desired to remain active and engaged in his community, even dedicating time to work alongside his great-grandson.
Elvis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Wilma Jean Simmons; sisters Virginia Wiltshire and Jo Spalding; and his parents, Elvis and Ruby Simmons. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the joy he brought to those around him.
Visitation services will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN. The details for addressing friends and family include visitations on March 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on March 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will follow the morning visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
