Elsie “Modene” Grosse of White House, TN
Age 92, residing at White House HealthCare and Rehabilitation, passed away January 23, 2022. Ms. Grosse was born January 29, 1929, in Bloomington Springs, TN to Tottie and Emmit Bryant. She was a member of the Baptist faith and loved her family, the outdoors, gardening, and caring for the birds. An avid reader and accomplished dancer, she participated in competition ballroom dancing and square-dancing groups for many years. She served in numerous volunteer and leadership positions throughout her life including the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee and Nashville Public Television. Prior to retirement while living in Nashville and Madison, Ms. Grosse worked for Genesco, Osburn Hessey, and managed several apartment complexes.
Ms. Grosse is survived by daughter, Sharon (Rod) Hayes of Hendersonville, TN and five grandchildren, Jason (Callie) Whitaker of Portland, TN; Cody (Brandi) Hayes of Ashland City, TN; Cheree Ralph of White House, TN; Brandon Hayes of White House, TN; Nathan (Heidi) Hayes.
Eleven great-grandchildren: Copelynne, Jaycee and Jaxon Whitaker of Portland TN; Xander and Jasper Hayes of Ashland City, TN; Noah and Caleb Petty of White House, TN; Tanner and Tyler Hayes of White House, TN; and Dylan and Logan Hayes of White House, TN; and Brother Donald (Doris) Bryant of Lebanon; sisters, Cliter Agee and Dorothy Youngblood, both of Portland, TN; a nephew, and nieces.
Ms. Grosse was preceded in death by parents Tottie and Emmit Bryant; brother, Olen Bryant; and sister, Freda Eatwell.
Per her wishes, there will not be a formal service. A celebration of her life will be held for friends and family, at 1 pm Sunday January 30, 2022 at Alex Byers Cemetery, Bloomington Springs,TN, with Brian Gilleland, officiating.
