Elizabeth Anne "Libby" Woodard Spicer was born July 3, 1956 in Springfield, TN to William Winters Woodard and Betty Garrett Woodard. She passed away May 29, 2017 at her residence in Nashville, TN. Libby grew up on a farm in Springfield and graduated high school in Springfield. She also graduated from UT Knoxville with a degree in food science. While in high school she showed Hereford cattle in the 4-H Club. She met dad in college and later married the love of her life, Phillip Spicer on August 25, 1978. Libby became a mother in 1982 when Phil was born and in 1986 Nan was born. Once her children were older she returned to work as a pre-school teacher at Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ and Western Hills Church of Christ. Libby truly enjoyed being around and helping students whether pre-school or college age. Later she went to work at Lipscomb University, from where she retired from accounting services. Libby was a special lady; a lady of intense faith and high integrity; she was an optimistic person who always saw the best in people.
Libby was preceded in death by her father William Winters Woodard. She is survived by her husband Phillip; two children, son, Phil and wife Annie Spicer, daughter, Nan and husband Miller Moore; mother, Betty Woodard and brother, Winn and wife Kathy Woodard.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 02, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Charlotte Heights Church of Christ.
A Celebration of Libby's life will be 11:00 am Saturday at Charlotte Heights Church of Christ with Darrell Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Martin Garton Cemetery in Dickson County. Serving as pallbearers will be Phil Spicer, Miller Moore, Jason Woodard, Jerry Rittenberry, Jr. and Tray Batey.
Memorial donations may be made to College Heights Church of Christ, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's or to Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Awareness.
