Norman, Edward Bud—Age 87, of Nashville, passed away June 5, 2010. Mr. Norman was born and raised in north Nashville. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1940 and trained as an infantryman and a paratrooper with the 456th Parachute Division and served nearly 6 years in the European Theatre during World War II. He was very proud of his military service. Upon leaving the Army after the war, he worked for many years as a distributor for the Nashville Banner and the Nashville Tennessean. In 1957, he started, along with his wife Mickey, a little neighborhood grocery store in north Nashville, Bud's Curb Market on Buchanan Street. That business was successful and continues to exist today as an anchor for several other thriving small businesses in the same location. Mr. Norman was a long-time member of the American Legion, where he helped for many years to lead the "Colors" ceremony for American Legion Post 88. He was a years-long member of the Moose Club. Dancing was the passion of his later years, and he and his wife Mickey were founding members of the "Let's Dance Club." Mr. Norman was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 52 years, Daphney Ray Norman Mickey and all seven of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by daughter, Brenda Stanberry Carl; son, Terry Norman; four grandchildren, Jonathon Norman, Brooke Sillers, Krista Stanberry, Reed Stanberry; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. Mr. Norman also is survived by long-time friend and companion, Louise Kovalick. He will be remembered by the many people whom he helped over the years and by his extraordinarily vibrant personality.
A memorial visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, at West Harpeth
Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 9, in the chapel at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or to a charity of your choice.
