Dorothy Polk Fudge, 94, of Mt. Juliet (formerly of Goodlettsville), passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. Born April 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lucious Polk and Artie Estelle Lassiter Polk.
Dorothy was a member of Goodlettsville High School’s graduating class of 1947.
She attended Peabody College in Nashville, but left to get married, and have four sons. She went to work as a bookkeeper for her father’s business, Ben Polk Chevrolet. While raising the 4 boys, she was a working Mom, sometimes riding the bus to Nashville to work in the L&C Tower for Southwestern Company, and later at Horner-Rausch Optical, and finally the Tom James Company, from which she retired after 27 years, in 1994, as the Executive Accountant.
Dorothy, or “Grandmas or Maws” as she was known to her large family, will always be remembered for how loving and kind she was…accepting of all, and showing how important you were to her through her words and actions. She is known for always… ALWAYS!... sending cards! Birthday, holidays, special occasions, all occasions would bring a card from Dorothy. And her mailing list had no end…
She attended Silver Springs Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, and had been a longtime member of Hillhurst Baptist Church in Nashville.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Ronald Wayne “Ronny” Fudge; granddaughter Virginia Connor; and her great-great granddaughter Ariel.
She is survived by her sons James Edward (Kay) Fudge, Richard Polk (Julie) Fudge, and Steven Paul (Linda) Fudge; daughter-in-law Jana Fudge; sisters Joyce Polk Mayes and Bennie Polk (Bobby) Troop; grandchildren Matthew (Christina Zarrilli) Fudge, Thomas (Brittni) Fudge, Michelle (Nathan) Carr, Chris (Rachel) Fudge, Andrew (Whitney) Fudge, Rhonda (Donnie Cherry) Benton, Darrell (Ashley) Fudge, Benjamin Fudge, Danny (Tiffiany) Fudge, and Stephanie (Shelly Vickers) Fudge; great grandchildren Dorothy, Nora, James, Cole, Claire, Ruthie, Gwen, Elle, Chloe, Audrey, Kendall, Charlie, Shiloh, River, Kevin, Hannah, Emily, Mattie, Marlana, Eli, Lilly, Brady, Dakota, and great granddog Teddy; great great grandson Jeremiah.
