Doris Walden

January 25, 1925 — January 28, 2024

Doris Walden, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 28, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. She was born on January 25, 1925, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Thomas W. Butler and Alice Virginia Giles Butler.

Doris had a vivacious personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known for her loving and caring nature, always going above and beyond to show kindness to others. Doris was also fiercely independent and had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around her.

One of Doris's greatest joys in life was spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and would do absolutely anything for them. Family gatherings during Thanksgiving and Christmas held a special place in Doris's heart. She took pride in preparing the most delicious meals for these occasions, ensuring that everyone else ate before she herself did.

Doris graduated from East Nashville High School. Throughout her life, she carried the lessons learned during her education with grace and wisdom.

The passing of Doris is mourned deeply by her surviving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Walden Sr., as well as her brothers Billy Butler and James Butler, sister Juanita Walden, and son-in-law Edward H. Legge.

Doris's memory will be forever cherished by her children Margaret Elaine Legge, Albert L. (Janice) Walden Jr., Stephen Wayne (Sharon) Walden, and Stuart (Pam Nolen) Walden; sister Yvonne Ellis; grandchildren Jeffrey, Brent, Stephanie, Angie, Misty, and Natalie; great grandchildren Jolie, Ian, and Mattox; along with other extended family members and friends.

To honor Doris's life and legacy, visitation services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. A celebration of life ceremony will follow at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Inspirational Minister Robert H. Williams, Jr. will officiate.
