Dora Dee Hammock, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 75 in Yorktown, Virginia. Born March 18, 1949, Dora was the daughter of the late Jerry Bain and Ethel Denson Bain.
Dora was an individual with a zest for life. She cherished moments spent dancing, and her passion for the outdoors was evident in the countless fishing trips and camping adventures she shared with her family. Above all else, her dedication to raising her children was paramount, instilling in them values of love, kindness, and perseverance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James L. Hammock, Sr. and her daughter Michelle Deskins.
She leaves behind her three sons, Jerry Hammock, James L. (Charlotte) Hammock, Jr., and Tommy E. (Heather) Hammock. Dora's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kaleigh, Connor, Kiefer, Nathan, Chris, and Megan (Zackary) Rivera. As a great-grandmother, she found joy in Freyja and Quinn Boebert, who were undoubtedly cherished by her.
The visitation for Dora will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service starting at 9:00 AM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Burial will follow in Middle Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery.
Dora Dee Hammock will be profoundly missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in the cherished memories they hold dear.
