JOHNSON, Donald Wayne - Age 60 passed away June 27, 2009, in his home in Nashville, TN. Mr. Johnson was born January 4, 1949, in Lebanon, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lela Mai Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kay Branstetter Johnson; children Courtney Kihlberg Petter and Benjamin Johnson Tatum; and grandchildren Anna and Erik Kihlberg. He was a 1967 graduate of Two Rivers High School where he played football and ran track. He continued his football career at Vanderbilt University where he was a Sigma Nu and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in 1971. During the first part of his career, he was employed as a structural engineer where he designed and built offices and condominiums, most notably in Destin, FL. During the latter half of his career, he was a self-employed custom home builder. He has lived in Bellevue for 20 years where he has been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and Exchange Club, proudly serving as the chairman of the Beautification Committee for which he was recognized as Bellevue Citizen of the Year. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Sunday, June 28, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Blvd, where he was an active member for many years. The service will be held on Monday, June 29, at 11am at the church with visitation one hour prior and burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Assoc., Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., or Immanuel Baptist Church.
