He carried this dedication into his professional life as a respiratory therapist, where he provided compassionate care to those in need. Throughout his journey, he was known for being generous, always prepared for any situation, and a source of strength for his family—often described as their "knight in shining armor."

He was a devoted member of Life Point Church in Clarksville and held a 15-year membership with Middle Tennessee Tres Dias, where he found community and fellowship, embodying a life lived in Jesus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jacob Calhoun.

Dave unconditionally loved his family and is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Beverly Calhoun; his children, Joshua Calhoun, Heather Calhoun, Philip (Marina) Calhoun, David (Shandi) Calhoun, and Alyssa (Jordan) Bales; his sister, Julie (Glenn) Carter; and a multitude of grandchildren: William, Donovan, Hailey, Charlee, Lacey, Faith, Reyna, Antwan, Benjamin, Emmett, Jacob, Noah, Harley, Maraya, Meadow, Philip, Jordan, Walker, Emmalyn, Nikolai, and two on the way.
