William Collier Duncan, age 84 of Gallatin passed away on Friday, February 23, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Duncan was born to the late W.E. and Nettie Johnson Duncan in Florence Alabama. He served his country for three years during World War II with the Army Air Force and later retired from TVA after thirty years of service. Mr. Duncan was a faithful member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ. Besides his parents, Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by a brother, Asa J. Duncan and sister, Mary Kenneth Long. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; Betty Holt Duncan, Son; William Alan Duncan, Daughter; Debra Jane Richard Woodward, all of Gallatin; Grandchildren; Jeremy Keith Woodward, Stephanie Leanne Woodward both from Gallatin, and Brian Allen Jessica Woodward of Aurora, CO, and two Great-Grandchildren; Cody V. Wade of Gallatin and Alexia L. Woodward of Aurora CO; Brother; Dr. J.E. Duncan of Morehead, KY, and sister; Ann D. Howard of Alabama.
Funeral service for Mr. Duncan will be conducted on Tuesday, February 27 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Gallatin Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Williams and Bro. Mark Hearn officiating. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens at Crestview. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Kemp, Robert Jones, Milton Hoffman, Robert Hix, Bud Coley, Winfred Vaughn, Wallace Watts, Burnice Wesbrooks, Lemuel Edwards, and Mike Stewart. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Woodward, Brian Woodward, Dean Gann, Bob Lannom, Bob Sidwell, and Eddie Duncan. Visitation will begin on Monday, February 26 from 2:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and will resume on Tuesday at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Society, American Diabetes Association, or the National Alliance for Mental Illness NAMI, these may be made through the funeral home.
