Coleman L. Travis, age 92, passed away peacefully Saturday August 21, 2021. He was born in Hardinsburg, Kentucky on May 5, 1929 to the late O.B. Travis and Beatrice Mitchell Travis. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Travis. Mr. Travis was a veteran and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Austin Peay State University with a degree in business. For many years he was employed with Opryland where he was the Material Control Warehouse manager from the parks beginning in 1971. He later worked for the State of Tennessee for over 20 years before his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement years, and mostly enjoyed being at home with Ruth and keeping up his bird feeders. When Ruth passed away in 2018, he was able to maintain his independence and had his trusty Min Pin best friend Scooter to keep him company. He is survived by his daughter, Daphne Hutchison, her former husband Tom, and their children Bond Hutchison and Coleman Johnson; son, Coleman L. Travis II, his wife Kim, and their children, Sarah Travis and Rachel Travis; sister Betty Lynn, with Bruce, and numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of life will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home Goodlettsville at 12 Noon on Saturday August 28 with visitation from 10:30 until service. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
