KESTNER, Clyde Winfred
Age 82 of Nashville, Tennessee, was born in Washington County, Virginia on May 21, 1927 and passed away peacefully on December 9, 2009 with family by his side. Mr. Kestner is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Clarence and Talitha Kestner of Kingsport, Tennessee and brothers Delos and Earl Kestner of Bloomingdale, Tennessee. He is survived by Marie Kelly Kestner, his devoted wife of 62 years and his two proud sons, Michael Stephen
Donna Kestner of Nashville and Mark Ginny Kestner of Murfreesboro; granddaughters, Callie Anne Kestner, Nashville and Eliana Kestner, Murfreesboro; step-granddaughter, Shannon Matt Bevins and step-great grandchildren, Olivia and Turner Bevins of Murfreesboro; step-grandson, Anthony Michelizzi of Payson, Arizona; sisters Ruth Taylor and Johanna Wallace; brother Wayne Charlotte Kestner, all of Kingsport, Tennessee and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kestner was inducted into the United States Army in 1945 at the age of 18 and served in the European theatre during World War II. He retired from National Life and Accident Insurance Company after a career spanning 27 years. Following his retirement, he managed real estate development and leasing in the Middle Tennessee area. A life-long proponent of continuing education, he was a voracious reader who also enjoyed being outdoors on his farm in southern Kentucky. He was a man of great spiritual faith, and throughout his life he was active in church serving as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Trustee as well as writing extensively on his Christian views. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2009 from Noon-1:45 pm at Harpeth Hills Gardens, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, Tennessee with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment immediately following. Pallbearers will be members of Mr. Kestner's Sunday School Class at Bellevue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any church of your choice.
