Francis, Clyde M., Jr. Age 85 of Nashville, TN passed away on Feb. 26, 2010. He was preceded in death by parents, Pauline Hale Francis, Clyde M. Francis, Sr., step-mother Dorothy Blanc Francis, Sister Peggy Francis Carter of Knoxville, TN and brother Paul E. Francis of Florence, KY. Survived by wife of 62 years, Jane Fagg Francis, one sister Brenda Francis John Owney, Virginia Beach, VA, children Diane Francis Johnston, Richard M. Ginger Francis, and C. Milton Donna Francis, III, grandchildren Andrew Harris, Christopher Johnston, Martha Francis Brent Heath, Sherry Francis Tyler Merideth, Thomas C. Francis, Ellen Francis, Elizabeth Francis and Clyde Milton Clay Francis IV and great grandchild Hailey Katherine Heath. Clyde was born in Atlanta, GA on January 19, 1925. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. A member of Sigma Chi fraternity, he served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and was stationed in San Antonio, TX. He married Jane Fagg in 1947. The family located to Nashville in 1959. He was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Official Board, Chairman of the Evangelism Committee, member of the finance committee, member of the Pastor Parrish committee, and was a member of the Crossroads/Remnant Class since 1959. Clyde was the principal founder of MARFAC, INC. in 1968 which was a specialty advertising firm and served as its president for 29 years. Under his leadership the company became one of the largest in the Southeast. He was a member of the National Commodore Club, the Gideon's West Camp and the American Legion Post, No, 5. He enjoyed sports events with his children and grandchildren, gardening and was an avid tennis player. The family will have a private graveside service. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of Calvary United Methodist Church, 3701 Hillsboro Road, Nashville, TN at 11:30 Monday March 1st with Dr. Peter van Eys officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the church Master's Common from 10:30-11:30. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Remnant Class. The family wishes to thank the staff at Richland Place Health Center for the exceptional love and care they provided.
