Charles Robert Goad (Charlie) passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021 with his wife by his side.
He was born February 5, 1951 to Miller and Margaret Booker Goad who preceded him in death. His grandparents were Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Jefferson Goad of Gallatin, TN and Mr. & Mrs. Talmadge Earl Booker of Portland, TN.
Charles was raised in Portland, TN where he graduated from Portland High School in 1969. e was He was a proud member of the Portland Panther Marching Band and manager of the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. He went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Vol State and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from MTSU.
Charles was an avid fan of all University of Tennessee sports. He loved watching Southeastern Conference games.
Charles is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gayle and their son Douglas Booker Goad. He is also survived by siblings, James Goad (Dick Hallin) and Janie (Richard) Holland. He is also survived by beloved cousins from both sides of the family: Danny Goad, Susan Goad McDowell, Jeff Goad, Peggy Scolaro, Eileen Jackson Manuel, Laura Jackson Pederson, John Jackson and Lois Jackson Hines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the bell choir at Connell Memorial United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville or the choir at McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church in Portland.
Visitation will be held at Connell Memorial in Goodlettsville on November 19 from 3-5 and 6-8 on November 19. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday November 20 at McKendree Memorial in Portland. The family will entertain visitors at 1:00 followed by the service at 2:00
A huge thank you to the nurses and staff at Hendersonville Hospital’s ER, CCU and 2nd floor for the care and attention given to Charles. Alive Hospice was supportive and caring and we thank them.
