FRANKLIN, Charles E. –age 86 passed away December 21, 2012. He was a retired Brigadier General with the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was a longtime guardsman and veteran of the U.S. Navy. General Franklin had more than 30 years of military service, receiving numerous awards and decorations. General Franklin had also retired as a professional service representative with Geigy Pharmaceutical Company of New York. General Franklin received a B.A. Degree from Cumberland University and a Master's Degree from Southwestern Seminary. He was a longtime member of Hendersonville Masonic Lodge and received an honorary 33rd degree from the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also a member of the Hendersonville First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband of 65 years; he was married to the former Miss Anne Claire Startup, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Miss Elizabeth Bradley; son-in-law, John R. Bradley and granddaughter, Mary Katherine Bradley all of Hendersonville; granddaughter, Mrs. Claire Carrico Chris Carrico; great-grandchildren, Dean Carrico and Madeline Carrico all of Nashville and a sister, Mrs. Irene Fero, of Richmond, VA. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hendersonville Funeral Home. John R. Bradley, Robert DePriest, and Brian Sheppard will be officiating. Burial with full military honors will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
