Charles Anderson

ANDERSON, Charles Lee, age 95, of Hendersonville. "Trapper" who recently celebrated his 95th birthday, was born in Greenbrier County, WV. He grew up in Hinton, WV where he graduated from high school. He attended Glenville State College and then transferred to West Virginia University where he met his future wife Minnie Gwilliam. "Trapper" played football for the WVU Mountaineers, was in the engineering fraternity Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and was an All-American honorable mention. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1933. After graduation, Trapper and Minnie moved to Wheeling, WV where he worked for Wheeling Electric and helped coach some local football teams in the area. A short while later, the Andersons moved to Morgantown, WV where "Trapper" began working for DuPont. Their daughters Emily and Vena were born in Morgantown and shortly there after, Trapper was transferred to Orange, Texas with DuPont. Their sons, Michael and James were both born in Texas. Some time later the Anderson family moved to Victoria, Texas, again with DuPont. The family lived in a house that was built by Trapper and his father-in-law, James Gwilliam. In 1958 the family moved again, this time to Wilmington, DE. In 1959 the family moved to Parkersburg, WV where Trapper was the assistant plant manager at DuPont's Washington Works. The family moved to Wilmington, DE once again in 1968 where Trapper worked at the executive offices of DuPont. By this time, their daughters Emily and Vena were both married.
After Trapper retired, he and his wife moved back to Morgantown, WV. They were season ticket holders for the WVU football and basketball games. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing, while in Texas and at his cabin in Preston County, WV. Although he was retired, he kept busy doing woodworking and small home repairs. Approximately 8 years ago the Andersons moved to Hendersonville, TN to be close to their sons and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Emily Harman of Cookeville, TN, Vena Anderson of Hendersonville, TN, Michael Anderson and his wife Donna of Clarksville, TN and James Anderson and his wife Linda of Gallatin, TN; grandsons, David Harman and his wife Amber of Vienna, WV, Patrick, Brian, Andrew, Jonathan, and Steven Anderson of Gallatin, TN, granddaughter Jessica and her husband Justin Broddrick of Murfresboro, TN, and great grandsons, Alex, Zack, and Kinsey Harman of Vienna, WV, his sister Leola Halstead of Bowling Green, KY and his brother Robert Anderson of Chillicothe, OH. In addition to his parents, Wilbur and Georgia Anderson, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Anderson, granddaughter, Dianne Harman, son-in-law Michael Harman, sister Edith Burke of Tucson, AZ, and brother Leonard "Zip" Anderson of Charleston, WV. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, August 6, 2006 from 3-8 p.m.. Mr. Anderson will be transported to Morgantown, WV where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 12, 2006 from the chapel of Dering Funeral Home. Interment will be in East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown, WV.
