Carla JoEtta Carehnke Born August 31, 1930, Hawthorne, Florida. Deceased April 19, 2016, White House, Tennessee.
Miss Carehnke was a member of the Hawthorne Methodist Church until the age of 12 when she moved to Orlando, Florida with her mother, Hilda M. Fitzgerald and her sister, Wenana A. Carehnke.
Miss Carehnke graduated from Orlando High School and was a member of the marching band, playing the trombone. She continued her interest in music playing in an all girls' band in and around Central Florida. Her love of music led her into becoming an avid record collector crossing many jondras. Another interest was playing softball on a women's league in Orlando. Miss Carehnke was the family researcher and studied much of the Carehnke and McCauley genealogy.
Miss Carehnke retired as a telephone operator with Southern Bell Telephone Company in Orlando, Florida.
In her later years, Miss Carehnke moved to White House, Tennessee to reside with her niece, LaJune Searcy Cole. Though Miss Carehnke never had children, she shared an enormous heart with the families of her niece, LaJune Cole and her nephew, John Tillman Searcy, Jr. and will truly be missed.
Loving the Lord as number one, Jesus as number two and family as number three, she lived by the written word and has surely earned her place in heaven.
This kind, gentle, giving woman will return to her birthplace in Hawthorne, Florida and rest next to her grandmother.
This family is thankful to our Lord for sharing his special child with us for all these many years
