WALKER, Carl, H. Sr., - Age 95, passed away on April 16, 2012. He was born on November 11, 1916 in Williamson County, TN to the late William George and Era Frances Overbey Walker of Fairview, TN. He was a lifetime resident of Williamson County. He attended the Williamson County Elementary Schools, and earned a High School Diploma from Watkins Institute, Nashville, TN. He attended Middle Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, and George Peabody College for Teachers. He earned a B.S. Degree in 1942 and a Master's Degree in 1952 from Peabody College. Mr. Walker was a descendent of three generations of farmers; he chose the teaching profession as a career. Mr. Walker's teaching career began at the age of 18 in a one room, one teacher school. He was a teacher, principal, and coach in the Williamson and Davidson County School systems. He was a teacher at Hillsboro High School, and retired from Franklin High School after teaching a total of 35 years. After he retired from teaching, he returned to the Walker Century Farm at the Walker Homestead, his place of birth. Mr. Walker enlisted for military service at the beginning of World War II. Mr. Walker, his three brothers and one sister were survivors of World War II. He was a charter member of Post 248 of the Fairview, American Legion, Post 248. He was a member of the Westview Methodist Church. He was a member of the Williamson County Quarterly County Court. He was a director of the Williamson County Farm Bureau for many years. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Page Walker; sisters, Leona Walker Harsy and Geneva Frances Walker Milan; brothers, William Deward Walker, Benton Walker, and Lester Virgil Walker; parents, William George and Era Frances Overbey Walker; and son, Carl H. Walker, Jr. He is survived by his son, John Page Walker; wife, Gale; his three grandsons, Carl III Anna, Frank Jill, and Anthony Tetra; two granddaughters, Wendy Jeff Scott, and Stormy Walker, and 9 great grandchildren. A Life Celebration service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Westview United Methodist Church with Don Sensing officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 2- 8 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, and on April 19, 2012 from 9 a.m. until service hour at the church.
