Carl Thomas Brown Sr. age 81, of Hendersonville, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2017, having been born in Robertson County on August 31, 1935.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtle Brown; brother, Bethel Brown, sisters, Ethel Lamberth and Ruth Pflueger, sister-in-law, Norma Ruth Brown, and beloved son, David "Scott" Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mary "Maxine" Brown of Hendersonville; brothers Bobby Brown of Hendersonville and Aaron (Connie) Brown of Nashville; sister-in-law Mary Lee Brown of Hendersonville; former sister-in-law Beth Brown of Nashville; brother-in-law Frank Pflueger of Paris, TN; sons Carl Thomas "Tommy" (Kay) Brown Jr. of Goodlettsville, Stephen Sutton (Lisa) Brown of Nashville, and Todd (Sabrina) Brown of Hendersonville; daughter Sherri Brown (Kirk) Lewis of Chattanooga; previous wife Peggy Hall of Goodlettsville; 12 grandchildren, Carl Thomas "Kip" (Jackie) Brown III, Jeff (Janie) Brown, Brandy (Travis) Slife, Stephanie (Justin) West, Matt Brown, Brandon (Carissa) Brown, Chelsea Brown Jones, Nathaniel Brown, Clara Brown, Benjamin Brown, Lauren Lewis and Landon Lewis; 13 great-grandchildren, Jayson, Joseph, Adrian, Kailey, Jaylen, Lexi Meg, Luke, Aubrey, Addison, Ella, Hayden, Harlow, Jaelynn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who being a young entrepreneur opened a tv repair shop on Old Hickory Boulevard in 1954. Later, he and his sons combined talents to open Brown's Colonial TV in Rivergate. Carl was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and reader favoring the newspaper and Louis L'Amour novels. He attended Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church and loved spending time with his family.
Visitation will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, on Wednesday, July 5, from 2-8pm. On Thursday, July 6, visitation will take place at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 10am until the service begins at noon with Rev. Jeff DeWees and Rev. Malcolm Patton officiating. Interment at Beech Cemetery. Pallbearers: grandsons Carl Thomas "Kip" Brown III, Jeff Brown, Matt Brown, Brandon Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Benjamin Brown, Landon Brown, and son-in-law Kirk Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers: Frank Pflueger, J.C. Escue, T. J. Jurgeluks, and Roger Fultz.
