Buford Carroll

CARROLL, Buford J. Sonny. On Friday, April 11, 2008, cancer won the battle. He fought a valiant determined and strong fight. He was born in Joelton, TN on May 27, 1929. He is preceded in death by parents, Fatal and Bertha Norris Carroll; sisters, Helen Fortune, Irene Ticknor and Evelyn Leaver. He is also preceded in death by beloved daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Thornton Eubank and Ray H. Eaton, Sr. He was proud to be a longtime registered voter and voted in all elections except for 2007 when health would not let him go to the polls. He was a retired member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 572 of which he was a member for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Our beloved "Papaw" is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann L. Dawes Carroll; sister, Doris J.D. Prince of New Orleans, LA; daughter, Gail Thornton Eaton and son-in-law, Terry Eubank of Pulaski, TN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Darryl Teresa Eubank, Dale Katrina Eubank, Dana Todd Eubank Hatfield of Pulaski, TN, Gina Alan Eaton Penix, Bubba Ray H. Eaton, Jr., Sandra Tim Eaton Stromatt of Nashville, TN; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their thanks to Alive Hospice and TN Oncology at Skyline and to his second family at Green Hills Health and Rehab. Thanks to all of the great nurses, techs and support staff. You encouraged, supported and loved your "Little Man, Pops." You have our undying gratitude for your tender, loving care of all of us. Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Visitation 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
