Bobby Gail Purcell Sr., 83, of Nashville passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at home with his family by his side. He was born on August 27, 1938 in Red Boiling Springs, Macon Co., TN to the late Jay Mack Purcell Sr. and Bettie King Purcell. Bobby was also preceded in death by siblings, Ila Tuck, Jr. Mack Purcell, Georgia Williams, Mary Edith Witt, and J. Dean Harrison. He was an Army veteran and had served with the 3rd Division 10th Artillery. He spent his working career as a mechanical engineer for retail stores. He began with the former Cain-Sloan Department Stores and continued with Dillard’s retiring in 2003. Bobby loved drag racing and antique tractor pulling. He was a man who would always lend a hand to his neighbors and friends. When he was able to, he had enjoyed hunting, especially with his grandson. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Carolyn Sharp Purcell; his sons, Bobby G. Purcell Jr. (Kelly), and Bradley G. Purcell (Tish); his grandson, Bailey Purcell; granddaughter, Julia Purcell; sisters, Carolyn Markham and Alma Jean Schulkers; extended family, friends and his beloved cat, Bullet. Visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN on Sunday, July 24th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM and on Monday, July 25th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. A celebration of life service will be held Monday at 10:30 AM followed by interment with military honors at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Nashville, TN at 1:00 PM
