Bob G. Garrett, age 76 of Goodlettsville, son of Amos Taylor Garrett and Annie Dora Stinson Garrett, passed away on May 12, 2016. Bob was born February 17, 1940, in the Shackle Island area of Sumner County. He attended Isaac Litton High School and retired from DuPont after 35 years of service. During his retirement years, Bob also worked for the City of Goodlettsville doing something he loved - mowing grass at Moss-Wright Park. Bob was a member of Shackle Island Church of Christ for over 45 years.

Bob had a passion for playing music, fishing, gardening, and working with his hands. Whether working indoors on antique pieces or working outdoors on keeping his yard like a park -- including building a log cabin - Barbara's list of projects always kept Bob busy.

Married for nearly 54 years, Bob is survived by his wife Barbara (Spivey) Garrett of Goodlettsville, daughter Tina (Garrett) Meeks and son-in-law Randy of Goodlettsville, son Jason T. Garrett and partner Jason Johnson of Nashville, adored grandchildren Briley and Brett Meeks of Goodlettsville, brother Joseph (Betty Jo) Garrett of Clarksville, brother Samuel (Sara) Garrett of Chattanooga, brother-in-law Ed (Cindy) Spivey of Goodlettsville, sister-in-law Betty (Lloyd, deceased) Link of White Bluff, sister-in-law Susan Spivey of Goodlettsville, and many nieces and nephews.

Creating a comforting house and home was very important to Bob; it is all the more special, then, that the day Bob passed - May 12, 2016 - was the very day he had moved his family into their home of many years on May 12, 1972.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15th, from 3 to 8 P.M. at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. A Celebration of Life will be led by Bro. Ray Frizzell on Monday, May 16th at 10:00 A.M. at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Grandchildren, nephews, and friends will be pallbearers.
