Blake Kurgan, age 29 of West Palm Beach, FL and formerly of Hendersonville passed away suddenly on November 28, 2018. Blake was born on August 31, 1989 in Nashville to Les and Nikki Kurgan.
He was constantly putting a smile on everyone's face with his infectious laugh. He loved to joke around constantly, no matter who you were or how old you were. Blake also loved to fish, whether it was in the ocean or a small pond. He had a huge passion for sports, especially football and basketball. While attending Beech, he played all 4 years of varsity football.
Blake really liked to be outside no matter the weather; he loved to be in the mountains and snowboarding on fresh powder, but also living in warm weather where he could wear shorts year-round. He was full of love and sympathy and would give a stranger the shirt off his back because he was selfless and always put others before himself. Most importantly, his favorite time was being around his friends/family and loved ones because that's just who he was, he had a big heart.
Blake was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Spain; uncle, Darren Spain; grandmother, Nina Byrd; and his aunt, Sandra Walker. He is survived by his parents, Les and Nikki Kurgan; brother, Kolby Kurgan; sister, Peyton Kurgan; grandmother, Jean Spain; aunts, Penny Hubbel, Tracey Sullivan and Julie Hulsey; uncles, Kevin Spain, Chuck Byrd and Ernie Kurgan; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
A Life Celebration Service honoring Blake will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at 1:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Cole & Garrett Funeral Home with Stephen Lorance officiating. Interment will follow in the Beech Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, December 4th from 3-7 P.M. and Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
