Betty Lou Matthews, of Springfield, Tennessee, passed away on March 9, 2024, at her home. Born July 10, 1941, in Westmoreland, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Claude Frances Webb and Bessie Perdue Webb. Betty was a dedicated homemaker whose life centered around her children and grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and selflessness extended beyond her family as she was known for her acts of kindness such as feeding the homeless.
Betty's love for yard sales and her kind-hearted nature were just some of the many ways she touched the lives of those around her. She will be remembered for her loving and generous personality that brightened the days of many.
She is now reunited with her husband of 55 years, James Matthews; brothers Ken, Gene, Oscar, Ray, Jerry, and Lewis; sister Ovie. Betty is survived by her beloved family including her daughters Kathy (Danny) Taylor and Dottie Parr; sons Darryl (Charlotte) Matthews, Dwayne (Jedonne) Matthews, and Kevin (Tracey) Matthews; as well as 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services to honor and celebrate Betty's life will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Cremation Services in White House on March 13th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM for visitation and on March 14th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for visitation followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will take place in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
Betty Lou Matthews will be dearly missed but her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
