Betty Jean Baskerville, age 71 of Portland passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana she was born to the late Harold and Irene Bertha Rouse Doughty. Ms. Baskerville worked for RCA, and the Twin Drive Inn Theater in Indianapolis. In 1974 Ms. Baskerville moved to Tennessee where she worked for Sumner Regional Hospital. She enjoyed her hobbies of ceramics, NASCAR, Baseball, and Football, especially when the Indiana Colts were playing.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frankie Doughty, and Marvin Doughty.
She is survived by her partner in life, James Baskerville, Daughters; Brenda Gonzalez of Portland, Sheila Mitchell of Indianapolis, Melody Farmer Waddle of Indianapolis, Tina Kevin Barber of Bethpage, Toni John Constance of Indianapolis, Sons; Phillip Baskerville of Portland, Keith Baskerville of Portland, Sister; Rose Raul Gonzalez of Frisco, Texas; 18 Grandchildren; 26 Great-Grandchildren; faithful companion "Lil Bit"; and many numerous family members and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of Gallatin Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will begin on Monday, January 15 from 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and will resume on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Sumner Hospice.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Drs. Dianna Shipley and Lisa Brown.
