WILLIAMS, Benjamin H "Benny" - March 28, 1931 - October 11, 2007. Master Musician "Benny Williams" died Thursday in St. Thomas Hospital from natural causes. For nearly fifty years, Benny was noted as one of Country Music's most accomplished musicians, singers & songwriters. During the span of career, he shared the spotlight with such greats as Mac Wiseman, Bill Monroe, Marty Robbins, Grandpa Jones, Jimmy Martin, Kitty Wells & Johnny Wright, Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, Stonewall Jackson, Reno & Smiley and Porter Wagoner. He was proficient in autoharp, mandolin, guitar, banjo and most notably fiddle. He is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Williams; sisters Margaret Daniels & Jean Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Della Lee Williams, step-daughter, Kathy Louvin-Pearson; granddaughters, Monica Horton & Tiffany Williams; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, L.C. & Billy Ray Williams; 16 nieces & nephews. He is loved and will be missed by all. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8pm. Services will be 2pm Wednesday at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be the AFM Local 257.
