Benjamin Page

Page, Benjamin G., age 90, died Tuesday, May 22 at the Residence of Alive Hospice. He was born December 21, 1916, in Glasgow, Kentucky and was the son of the late Leo and Ora McFarland Page.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence Rita Chabot Page; brothers, Dr. Edwin Howard Page of West Lafayette, IN and Leon Page (Lassie) of Franklin, KY; three children, Bonnie Page Hoopengardner (Roger) of Vienna, VA, Benjamin G. Page, Jr. (Libby) of Nashville, Deborah Page Evans (Michael) of Nashville; six grandchildren, Andrew John Hoopengardner (Merrill) of Washington, DC, Sara Page Henry (JP) of Suffolk, VA, Anna Lyn Copeland (Mike) of Reston, VA, Florence Ann Page of Nashville, Lauren Page Johnson (Robby) of Brentwood, Benjamin Gordin McMurtry of Fairfax, VA; and one great-grandchild, Page Elizabeth Henry; several nieces and nephews.

He attended Bowling Green Business University. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army stationed primarily in Kansas and the Philippines and achieving the rank of captain. His first business venture was the Sweet Shop in Franklin, KY with his brother Leon, a job that contributed to his lifelong love of ice cream. His career was in the retail automobile business, locally with Ben Page Ford then Crown Ford where he retired as business manager and minority owner in 1981. He was a parishioner of Christ Church Cathedral and was a Mason and 50-year member of Al Menah Temple, Shriners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Church Cathedral (Florence and Ben Page Garden Fund), 900 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203; the Residence at Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203; or Perenity, 3800 Woodlawn Dr., Nashville, TN 37215.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 28, from 3 - 6 pm at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ben Page, Jr., 3801 Richland Ave., Nashville, TN 37205. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. The family will also receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service.
