Barbara Ann Walker, age 72 of Nashville passed away on May 5, 2015 at Bethesda Health Care in Cookeville,Tennessee.
Ms. Walker was born on August 25, 1942 to the late Walter T. and Viola Walker in Nashville, Tennessee. She was an extraordinary woman filled with generosity and kindness to everyone whom she met. She lived her life in such a way that she told her sister in law that she did not have any regret about how she lived.
Ms. Walker worked for forty years. Most of those years were spent at TCW. Even after a forty hour work week during the day, she also worked on weekends as a hostess at the Grand Old Opry for 30 of those years. She loved many things in life. The spring was a season she especially treasured because she loved flower gardening and tending her beautiful hanging plants. She could take a withered and dying plant and give it her special car, pamper it and bring it back to life to look beautiful all season. She loved to travel, going on trips with her family and friends. Her mom and dad began that love when they shared family vacations each year growing up. After her parents had passed, she would continue traveling with her brother and his family and her cousins. One of her favorite times traveling was when she joined her niece Charlotte and her son, Bryce on a Caribbean cruise. She would continue to share about the lovely time they shared until the end of her life.
The family shared that a few of Ms. Walker's favorite songs were "It Is Well with my Soul", "Look For Me" and "Wonderful Grace of Jesus". She loved her church and church family, and didn't want to miss an opportunity for worship. I was told on a day she that she felt terribly ill, she put her feelings aside, got dressed for church and went to worship service even though she could barely sit through the services. Only a few hours later she was in the emergency room. But it was Sunday and she always worshipped on Sunday and she wanted to be in church. She is a Christian woman who loves the Lord.
Ms. Walker will forever be remembered as a loving, thoughtful, generous, kind and devoted sister, aunt and friends to so many.
She is survived by brother, Ron (Betsye) Walker; niece, Charlotte (Bryan) Duhl, their children Bryce, Lizzie and Braden Duhl and nephew, Taylor (Lee) Walker, their children Ellee and Chloe.
