Age 53, of Goodlettsville/Nashville. Born Jan. 7, 1953; Barbara was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and future mother-in-law. She left to be with Jesus on Sept. 13, 2006. She died in her home in Goodlettsville after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother; Mary Lynn Lovell Crane, her sister; Terry Anne Crane and her mother-in-law; Jeri Detring. She is survived by her husband; Wayne Detring of Goodlettsville, their son; Derek Crane Detring of Houston, TX, by Derek's fiance; Elizabeth Banks Stevens, of Houston, TX, her father; Joseph Crane of Hendersonville, her brothers; Joseph Michael Crane of Nashville and Brian Lovell Jan Crane of Gallatin, father-in-law; Walter Jessie Detring of Farmington, MO, brother-in-law; Kenneth Dawn Detring of Jackson, MO, and eleven nieces and nephews. Barbara graduated from Isac Litton High School in 1971, its last graduating class, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she was a member of Tri-Delta sorority. She then attended Aquinas Junior College and received an associate's degree in dental hygiene. Barbara later received a scholarship to the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and graduated in 1977 with a bachelor of science in dental hygiene. She worked as a dental hygienist in Madison and Nashville until 1984, when she became a full time homemaker. Barbara enjoyed tennis for several years, and later was an avid horse woman and spent many hours training, riding and caring for her horses. Barbara was also a wonderful artist, and shared her talent with friends and family. Her paintings will continue to brighten many lives. She also was a regular member of her Bible Class, and loved learning about God and Jesus, with whom she now resides forever. Barbara was a blessing and a joy to her family and many friends. Her legacy will live on in their hearts and minds. Family will receive friends from 2pm till 4pm and 6pm till 8pm, Thursday, Sept. 14, at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 11am, Friday, Sept. 15, at City Road Chapel United Methodist Church of Madison. Pallbearers are Mike Crane, Brian Crane, Joseph Crane, Andrew Crane, Ken Detring and Brian Bonfanti. Honorary pallbearers are Ava Chance, Betsy Manning and Theresa Bridges.
